The ground was not safe for them anymore. They had to either climb up the trees and stay there or make a tree house. No one amongst them knew how to make one. Neither did they know how to climb trees. They decided to find some good cave where the creature wouldn’t find them.

They had nowhere to go so they kept walking in a direction Luthor thought was the North. It was night soon. Rachel saw something but she had to make sure she saw it right. She asked Natalie, “Dazz is changing so that means he can see and hear things much more clearer and sharper than normal humans?”

“Yes,” said Natalie.

Then she asked Dazz to have a look at something she thought was a light from a lamp at some height. Dazz confirmed that it was a light coming from a hut on a tree. Luthor made a run for it but Dazz had the power of an animal now. He beat Luthor to the hut. Others reached slowly. Now the hut was visible to all of them.

It was weak as it was made of hay bound together by ropes standing on a few bamboo sticks. There was an electrical lamp functioning there. Everyone climbed up but Dazz. When Rachel asked why he said, “I can’t put all of you in danger. Who knows what I’ll become in the next few hours? Besides you need an alarm if there is danger nearby. I’ll warn you guys. I won’t be able to sleep anyhow so it’s better to be the guarding dog.”

Without saying anything Rachel went in. There was no bed and the floor was wooden. Natasha and Rachel were tired. They had no choice so both of them  laid down on the floor and closed their eyes. Sam saw an old V.C.R. with a screen. He played a few cassettes kept there. The cassettes were records of some bizarre experiment on Dr. Dakash administered by the man himself.

It was some kind of drug to enhance a man’s senses and ability to run and jump. The blood from which the drug was derived from was a new form of animal. A hybrid of a wolf gamete and an alien gamete. The specimen was not stable but they got a few drops of its blood which helped them create this drug.

This drug directly attacked the D.N.A. of a person. Something went terribly wrong. The last tape dated the day before they came to this god forsaken island was not complete and it was bloody. It was the last day Dr. Dakash was human. They saw what Dazz was on the verge of becoming. They had to save him anyhow. Now they were not so sure about the full moon thing but still that was their last choice…

Far far from the hut on the shore of the island, the other group was celebrating. Miss Tanya was happy that she had saved at least a few children from that wretched monster. Suddenly she felt an excruciating pain go through her stomach. She looked down and found an animal’s hand through her stomach. She died on the spot out of pain and shock. When the kids saw this they panicked and started running away here and there. Dr. Dakash enjoyed killing scared folk more. He was faster than them. One by one he ripped their bodies apart and had his midnight meal lavishly…

Soon night fell. They had to camp as there were many animals around. Fire could scare some off. So they made a fire and camped there. Natalie started searching something from her old books. She was already acting strange after she saw the claw mark on Dazz’s hand. She found it and screamed with horror. Hearing her cry everyone gathered around her. Luthor asked, “What happened love?”

“I found out what that mythical creature Dazz saw is called.”

“What?” asked everyone in horror.

“It is a werewolf! And soon Dazz will be one too. On the next full moon Dazz is going to forget that he is Dazz. We can still save him but we’ll have to kill the monster that scratched him before the full moon which is due next week.”

“Are you kidding me?” said Rachel, “You are saying that my Dazz is scratched by a werewolf?”

“Yes! If you don’t believe me. See the part where he was scratched. You’ll already find hair growing out at an unbelievable rate. Dazz why don’t you tell how you are feeling?”

Dazz said, “I’m feeling boiling hot.”

“Would you care to show us where you were scratched Dazz?” said Natalie.

He pulled up his sleeve. Natalie was right about the hair growth. It was nothing they had ever seen. The claw mark was still visible but there was hair all around it.

The Claw Mark

Tanya said, “Oh my God! If Natalie is right then Dazz would soon become a monster. I am not going to die here on this wretched island. If you want to help Dazz than stay here and help him. Those who care for their life follow me. We are getting as far away from this beast as we can right now!”

Luthor stayed because of Natalie, Rachel and Dazz had to stay. Courtney left and while leaving she said, “Sorry Rachel. As much as I love you and your guy, I love my life more so I’ll be going. Natasha was curious about this creature so Sam had to stay back with her. Rajesh also stayed back with them to help. Even if he didn’t know any of them, He valued life and wanted to save Dazz’s life. The others ran off with Ms. Tanya like cowards.

Not too far from them Dr. Dakash was watching their every move. He was happy that the group split up…

They split up to find Dazz. Luthor ,Natalie, Rachel and Courtney went straight. Nick, Natasha and Sam went left. Miss Tanya, Gary and Rajesh went right. They were going to use mockingbirds for signal. They were going to signal the birds and the birds would transfer the signal.

After  around 3 hours of continuous searching Miss Tanya found Dazz unconscious near some trees. The tree and Dazz’s hand had a claw mark each. Gary gave the signal while Tanya shook Dazz to wake him up. When everyone arrived Dazz gained consciousness. He looked terrified. Rachel came running to him and kissed him and hugged him.

He said, “We gotta get out of here right away.”

“Why? What happened?” asked everyone. He didn’t speak for a while then Rachel asked, “What happened my love?”

The Attack

He said, “I saw a weird creature. It was about 12 feet tall, had face of a wolf and could stand on two’s and all four’s. It ran like hell and had hair all over the body. He  chased me and did this (He showed them the claw mark). Fortunately I escaped and fainted around here as I suffered from concussions while I was running. Please we have to get out of here before that beast comes.”

Luthor said, “But the bridge is broken and the airport is on the other side.”

“This is an island right?” said Dazz, ” We should find the shore and then maybe we find some ship going. We have a flare gun with one shot. We can use it to get some help.”

“Good idea. Can you walk?” said Miss Tanya.

“Yes, let’s go.” Dazz said…

Rachel shouted, “We have to find Dazz!! He could be bitten by an animal or something.”

Tanya said, “We all go through this bridge one by one as it is very weak and likely to break.  Ladies first.”

One by one all the girls reached the other side. Some scared boys also went before Natalie and Courtney who were left with Luthor and Tanya. Luthor made Tanya go next. As soon as she got cleared Courtney followed. Then Natalie started moving. Courtney shouted, “There are some weak planks. Be careful on which plank you step on.”

As soon as Courtney said this, Natalie got conscious and scared. Her feet started shaking. Luthor could see that the bridge was not  able to support the shaking. Natalie’s left leg got stuck in a plank which made her more hysterical. Luthor shouted, “Calm down! I’m coming for you. Just stop moving.”

Rescue

Fortunately Natalie decided to obey Luthor and stopped moving. Luthor carefully stepped onto the bridge. He knew he did not have much time but he had to move slowly. He slowly moved towards Natalie. When he reached Natalie, he said, “I’m gonna pull you out. Just don’t move.”

Gently, he tried to pull her left leg out but it was stuck firmly. He said, “This will pain a little.” He  turned her leg a little and like a bottle cork her leg came out. He said, “Now slowly move towards them I’ll stand here till then.” She started moving. The side from which they came was coming apart due to the weight.

The left attachment was already off. Luthor had to run now. He tried but the right attachment fell off and the bridge went down. Natalie cried, “No!!!! He died because of me. He could have left me to die. I’m of no use.”

They saw a pair of hands coming up from the hill side. It was Luthor and he was alive and kicking. He had a firm grip to the bridge and climbed up when the bridge settled. When he reached topside, Natalie ran towards him and hugged him. Everyone could see the happiness and satisfaction in Luthor’s eyes.

They still had to find Dazz so they split up…

Natasha’s loud scream woke up everyone. The other girls screamed too when they saw what made Natasha scream. The pilot and the hangar were on fire. Tanya ordered all the students to run towards the forest and stick together. Then she tried to save the pilot but she knew she was too late. The pilot was their last hope of making communication back home which was also gone now.

Now they have to sit it out till their trip ends and the university comes to know that something is wrong. She caught up with the terrified students. She settled them down and said, “So we have to stick together and support each other. We’ve lost our pilot and our last hope of communication. We’ll have to stay on this god forsaken island till the university figures out we are missing.”

“How long can that be, ma’am?” said Dick.

“I don’t know, on the day of our scheduled return. That is  next week.”

“We had to stay for four days what difference do three more days make.”

“But what caused the fire?” asked Luthor, “Natasha do share with us.”

The more than ever terrified Natasha said, “I woke up to relieve my bowels when I saw a man setting everything on fire. I called out to him. He had a lab coat on. He kept on burning everything. I ran towards him. He threw the matchstick in front of me and the ground in front of me caught fire and I screamed.”

“You said he wore a lab coat?” said Tanya.

“Yes ma’am I’m damn sure he did. He had short hair and he wore glasses too.”

“That description matches Dr. Dakash but why would Dr. Dakash burn the hangar?” said Tanya.

“Maybe he doesn’t want us to leave?” said Nick.

“Okay, but why?” Natalie said.

“I guess we’ll have to find out. Luthor please nail the tent you brought from the plane, Gary and Dick, go and find something we can burn. Others stay here at the camp. No roaming around. I want no more deaths here.” said Tanya.

“Got it” every one said in unison. When the tent was ready and the woods were brought it was still night but everyone was too terrified to sleep. They decided to play Truth ‘N’ Dare. While Tanya was figuring out what to do with Luthor, the others played Truth ‘N’ Dare…
