She said, “I have checked down there. It’s the basement. It had an outside entrance from where I got in. There is nothing useful down there. Did you find anything in the living room?”

Just to play along I said, “No… but I can see that Ned is holding up just fine.”

“That’s great!!!!” She said and she went past me. I reached for that door again and as I did, she came back and stopped me. She said, “I told you I checked downstairs. No need for you to waste time!” She had burning anger in her eyes. 

I thought of staying away from that door at that moment out of fear. I said, “Okay! Don’t worry. I won’t” and I accompanied her back into the living room. This angry behavior made me more suspicious that she was hiding something behind that door and more determined to find what it was.

Was she a witch using an old spell book to bind us in black magic or something? I just knew I had to wait to find out. Meanwhile the rest of the party joined us in the living room. We discussed about how to assess the situation.

Nobody had brilliant ideas but all of us agreed that we had to stick together till we figure out what was going on. As we were about to disperse, the clock caught my eye. It was stuck on 3:10.

Suddenly the big pendulum also came to a standstill. I started feeling light headed. I looked around. Everything was hazy. I saw Debbie collapse. Everything went blank…
