When Dalia landed in Nova Scotia, she searched for Janus Cars on her smartphone. She got the address. It was at walking distance from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. She followed the Google Map directions and reached the office of Janus Cars. She went in. The person sitting at the front desk was startled at her entry. She noticed that and went straight towards him. He regained his posture and said, “Welcome to Janus Cars, How may I help you?” She recognized the musky voice instantly. This was the man that kidnapped her twice. She decided to play along. She said, “I need a car to rent. I am going on a road trip to check out all the beautiful spots in Nova Scotia. He said, “Right this way ma’am.” As he stepped out of the booth she saw mud on his shoes.

She recognized that specific type of mud from somewhere. She was having difficulty placing that mud. Suddenly she remembered. It was a place right here in Nova Scotia. Her father took her to visit this place a lot. It was a secluded place and very few people knew about it. The best part was that it had no connectivity to the outer world. It was a small town named Risenville. She knew where she had to go to get to the bottom of this. She signed the papers required to rent a car, rented a gypsy and headed over to Risenville. It was a difficult route as very less maps displayed it.

Suddenly she realised another Gypsy was following her. She was a huge fan of the Transporter movies and she knew exactly what to do to lose the other Gypsy. She turned unexpectedly, drove fast and confused the other Gypsy. After a while the trail was lost. After driving for almost a day she entered Risenville. She parked the car near a bed n breakfast, took a coffee from there and started looking around the town.

A house at the far end of the road caught her eye. It was painted red unlike the rest of the houses. Red was Michael’s favorite color. She went closer. A kid rang a bell on the house. She was selling girl scout cookies. A man who looked like in his late fifties opened the door. He was wearing a silky black robe another one of Michael’s favorite colors. The man said, “I’ll take 20. You know I have a sweet tooth. Don’t you little Ms. McReely.”

She couldn’t believe her ears. That man sounded just like Michael and the resemblance was uncanny!! Michael also had a sweet tooth. Barely holding herself together when the girl left with the money, she approached the door. She said, “Excuse me, are you what I think you are?”

The man recognized her. He was shocked that she tracked him down. “Would you like to come in Ms Dalia?”

How did he know my name? she thought. She followed him into his living room. He politely asked her to sit down. She sat down. She couldn’t believe her own eyes. The man said, “I think you know who I really am. It is true.”

Dalia couldn’t believe it. She was in shock. She fainted in shock. When she woke up the man offered her a cup of hot chocolate. She came back into  her senses. She still couldn’t believe that she was sitting right in front of the legend, her idol, the love of her life, the great pop king, MICHAEL JACKSON!

The only thing that could come out of her mouth was, “Why?…”

Michael said, “I know it was really wrong on my part but I really had no choice. Believe me I did not want to do it but it was the only option left with me. I owed a lot of people and had three children and not enough funds to support any of them and had very less time to pay back the money I owed and so I thought of a comeback but it didn’t create the buzz we expected it to create. I dropped more and more in debt. Finally my good friend Vikram suggested that I should disappear. I couldn’t do that to my children. I love my family too much. At last Janet came up with an idea of faking my death. It was estimated that my death would bring enough funds to pay off the debt I owed and secure the future of my children.

I knew I won’t be able to see my family and I had to say bye to my old life and everyone in it. Janet arranged for Janus cars and faked my death with the help of Conrad. He didn’t know anything but we knew that people would believe that he killed me. Then Janus Cars settled me here in Risenville. I am happy here. Janet paid everyone and my children’s future is now secure. Janet paid Janus to protect my identity but never to harm or kill anyone that is why you are still alive. But now you found me. My only request to you is that you don’t share this with anyone.”

Dalia was happy that he was alive and she knew it. Her life purpose of meeting him and having a drink with him was fulfilled. “I promise your secret will stay a secret.”

The happiness..

After a productive day at Michael’s home Dalia returned to the airport and flew back to LA. She had promised Michael she would never return but they will stay connected through emails. She was happy and she understood why Michael had to do what he had done. After that she went back to the office and focused on the workload that had piled up due to her Michael madness that actually paid off.
