That night they decided to have take out back at the mansion and have it in the dining room. The mansion had an enormous dining room with chandeliers and roman architecture ceiling and walls.

Chapterwise story listing -> The Superstition

The dining table was a relic itself. It had the engravings of the East India Company. They sat down to have a beautiful candlelight dinner.

They were in the middle of a conversation about the next visit of their trip when they heard a loud thud from the attic. “Probably something old broke in there” said Aditya with a chuckle.

Sarah had a feeling it was something more but she ignored it and continued with the conversation. After a long time, there was another thud and this time it was louder.

Then concurrently more thuds followed. Aditya got up. “Okay, whoever is hiding up there, I am coming to get you!! And when I find you, I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!”

He climbed the stairs and Sarah followed him. The thuds got louder and louder as the attic approached. The attic door was already open and there was this weird black liquid gushing down from the door. “What the hell? said Sarah.

And within seconds of Sarah finishing her sentence the black gooey liquid started mutating. It starting forming a manly figure. The manly figure grinned loudly and opened his eyes which were blood red.

There was nothing but red in his eyes. He reached for Aditya who was so freaked that he couldn’t move. Sarah screamed at the top of her voice,” ADITYAAAAAA!! GET BACK FROM…. IT…”

Listening to Sarah’s voice, Aditya came back to his senses and stepped back. The black glob which resembled a man was still moving towards him. He took Sarah’s hand and they ran back to the bedroom and closed the door behind them.

The glob was right behind them. They could hear his thud like movements towards the bedroom door. The glob started thudding on the door. The door started vibrating like it would come down. After a few minutes the thudding stopped.

“Is it gone?” Sarah asked.

“I think so but let’s stay in for a while to make sure.” Aditya’s face was pale with terror. “I can’t believe this is happening!” he said,”We are leaving as soon as we can.”

“What about my research? It’s in the study. We have to get it before we leave.”

“Okay, we’ll go get your study in a minute. I gotta wash my face first.”

Aditya went into the bathroom. The sink was just below the mirror in that room. He turned the tap on and started splashing water on his face. As he was wiping the extra droplets off his face, he glanced at the mirror.

The corners of the mirror started getting dense with moisture. The lights in the room started to flicker. He couldn’t get his gaze off the mirror.

It was like the mirror was pulling his human soul in. Tears rolled off his eyes as he tried to get away from the mirror but couldn’t. He couldn’t shout for help or move. He couldn’t do anything. Some writing started to appear on his forehead on the mirror.

YOU AЯƎ MIИƎ

He saw this in the mirror.  you are mine… What did that mean?  He could feel getting detached from his body…

Its been too long. thought Sarah. She started moving towards the bathroom. She could hear whispers. The door was locked shut. She tried to break in. The door opened with a gush of air coming out.

Aditya collapsed on the floor. Sarah went to help him. He was as cold as ice. She pulled him out of the bathroom and hugged him to give him some heat. She could still feel him breathing but he was breathing shallow. Sarah tried mouth to mouth. After a long minute, Aditya’s eyes opened and he took in a long sigh.

He was still alive but couldn’t say a word. He was dumbstruck with fear. Sarah helped him get on the bed. Sarah said, “You rest for a while. I’m gonna go get my report”

“Don’t leave me!” Aditya said weakly.

“Okay, I am not going anywhere.” said Sarah taking her place beside Aditya. They cuddled and slept.

A woman appeared in the mirror and grinned. She had red eyes…
