Vacuum - Space Horror Story
This is a space horror story with ghosts on moon. The story is a fictional one in which a ghost haunts the crew of Nautilus X, a brand new spaceship of NASA.

Finally got some time to start a new project. This is another one of my specialty, an addition to the horror genre. Vacuum is a project I wanted to work on for a few months now. Due to time constraints I couldn’t. Anyways, finally got the chance to start and finish one of my best horror fiction short stories.

I have added a few historical figures but a disclaimer nonetheless is that the content of this complete story is a work of fiction. Any and all resemblance to real life people is purely coincidental and the depiction of real life objects like the International Space Station has been modified to meet the story’s requirement. And there could be many scientifically unreal things too. So people who just love a good horror story, read along, skeptics are welcome too but keep your point of view to yourself. 😉

Vacuum is about a crew of fifteen members on a mission to collect samples of rock from the dark side of the moon. Due to money constraints they were supposed to pick up a heavy cargo carrier attached to the International Space Station which would help them carry the rocks back to earth. The cargo carrier had never been used since it first docked into the space station.

It was one of the first cargo carriers that docked there. It brought some important materials during the establishment of the USOS (United States Orbital Segment) part of the space station. The pilot that brought the carrier to the space station was also part of the moon mission crew. He was the commander of the ship this time. He was reluctant to go on this mission.

It was his first mission after the docking of the carrier. He was definitely hiding something. Among the crew was his sister too, and she was reluctant to go on the mission too. But as they were the only ones who knew about the a carrier. They didn’t have much of a choice.

It was like a regular space mission. There were no problems till the carrier undocked from the station and docked to the ship. All systems were up and running. As they started moving towards the moon, the whole crew felt a chill down each of their spines.

They looked at each other in bewilderment and just as a precautionary measure, the commander sent one of the ship’s specialist to go and check out the systems for any anomaly. He found that the rear door of the carrier was unlocked and could cause problems although that couldn’t be the reason for the chill, they still needed to fix it. He wore his space suit and went in the carrier. It was a little dingy.

The light was flickering. He saw that something was stuck in the door.  It looked like a spacesuit. He unfastened the door and pulled it in. He was sure that this wasn’t there when they undocked the carrier and docked it to their ship. Now he was confused about how it got there. The suit was pretty old.

He closed the door and the carrier’s systems were fully functional. After a while the oxygen sign went green and that meant he could remove his helmet. He did so and carefully examined the suit. He called in the commander and showed him the suit. The commander could not believe his eyes.

When the specialist asked the commander what happened, he said, “This man died in his suit in outer space. This is impossible. His suit was forever lost in the vacuum.”
