Inflicted – Unstable and Dangerous

@Anishi #TheProtagonist My head is hurting. Why am I lying on the ground? Why does my hand and dress so wet? There is something icky in my hand. I can’t see as it’s too dark. There is something else in my hand. Let me bring it close to my face so that I can see clearly. It is a knife! What is a knife doing in my hand. The pain in my head is killing me.

What is going on? I try to get up. I did get up but I slipped and fell again. The same liquid is on the ground as well. Where am I? It looks like mom dad’s room but the light is too dim. I hold the bedpost and get up. I try to look around. My eyes are finally adjusting to the dim light and I can now see a little better. I was definitely in my mom dad’s room.

I look around for a light switch. As I toggled the switch the room lightened up. I was able to see the room properly now. I could see that the main safe was open and all the jewelry and money was gone. Then to my horror, I saw Gurpreet lying on the floor face down and there was blood everywhere.

Inflicted – Cured

@Yelda #ThePatient After doing my household chores I stole the last valuable I would steal for chacha as I had planned to steal the main safe in Gurpreet’s bedroom, early morning tomorrow and disappear forever.  I sneaked out a gold ornament on my way to the psycho lady’s office. I reached under the bridge where Chacha and me met daily. He came a few minutes late in an auto rickshaw. I handed him the ornament. He examined it and said, “I want something more expensive soon or else you are coming home.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll steal something more expensive tomorrow.”

Suddenly out of nowhere police jeeps surrounded both of us. Gurpreet and the police inspector that introduced me to the psycho lady stepped out of one of the jeeps and the inspector arrested chacha.

Inflicted – The Dilemma

@Yelda #ThePatient Thank god Chacha let me go. I don’t want to betray these people but now I have to give Chacha something or he will kidn…ap

Nooo…. not kidnap Yelda didi. I don’t want to get kidnapped again.

Don’t worry Anishi. I won’t let him do that to you again.

I must keep my sister safe. I will steal a few valuables and give them to chacha and then steal something big for me and run away from here forever but they were such nice people. Another option for me was to get chacha arrested and live with them for the rest of my life. But chacha was always there for me and I could not turn him in. My mind was getting crushed in this dilemma. Finally I decided what to do.

Inflicted – I did not run away

@Yelda #ThePatient Next morning, I was given the daily chores of the house. The inspector dropped by the house. He had a quick conversation with Gurvinder and Gurpreet and they brought him towards me. He also had the psycho lady with him. The psycho lady said, “Hi, Yelda. Can you help the inspector find your Chacha now that you have left him?”

I didn’t trust the inspector. The psycho lady was okay. I can share what I thought with her.  “Can I talk to you alone?” I said.

Inflicted – Day Off

@Yelda #ThePatient I was a little relieved that the psycho lady knew about my little sister. Now someone knew why I did such bad things. It is all because I don’t want anything to happen to her. That is why I keep her hidden forever until it is safe and there is no one to hurt her. I put myself in front whenever someone comes to hurt her and I am excited to meet my parents again.

Chacha said that they were dead. He would be pleased to know that they aren’t. When I reached home, chacha was on the phone. He had told me that I am not allowed to eavesdrop so I didn’t. I hid my share at my hiding place and started preparing chacha’s evening tea.

After he was finished with his call, he went back into his room. I brought him his tea and gave the leftover money to him. He asked me how my first day went. I said, “It was good. I found out something really interesting. My parents might be alive!! The psycho lady will help me find them!”
